June 13th: A bit of a mess.
What went well today?
- Today was bathroom cleaning day. The bathroom smells all nice and vinegary. And I discovered the oyster mushroom in a bag I purchased back in early spring had sprung back to life in the over-the-toilet cupboard. Thanks to my decluttering efforts in the bathroom I was able to free up an entire cupboard just for the oyster mushrooms to grow to their hearts content. And because the house is cleaner it is less likely that they will get moldy and die.
- Today was my Martial Arts Lesson. My wife taught me some basic Self Defence and explained that I was starting the first level of learning to fight. The beginner needs to know how to kill someone, because they do not have the skill to disarm a person without doing so. I'm excited to learn the advanced material and find out how to avoid doing that.
- I made dinner. It was very late but I did in fact make it.
- I took unscheduled time. Both today and yesterday I've taken time outside of routines to let my brain relax and just read or think about things. Or to rehome oyster mushrooms. You know, fun things.
What didn't go well today?
- I skipped my martial arts daily practice. I've been feeling burned out mentally and physically. I thought it would be a good choice. It wasn't. I suspect my depression is worse then I realised. Changing my morning routine is not wise. It turns out what I thought was a bonus activity I could take a break from is actually one of the stabilisers in my life...I feel a little silly having to learn it. I also found that I dislike the 'I missed exercising today' feeling.
- I lost my temper and yelled at a bad driver. It wasn't that I was unjustified. But being justified isn't a justifiable reason to yell at someone. Mostly because it won't help them be better or me feel better.
- I didn't mop. The floor was bad enough that I just swept.
- I forgot to make dinner. And I forgot about dinner entirely. I forgot last night to start the chili and then I forgot today that we were even having chili! I made it at 9pm instead of 5:20pm.
