Daily Check-Out for June 2nd
This was a good day. My most important task was to rest and I did that. I spent time with Wife not working. We biked and ran a few errands and spend good quality time together.
But today I didn't finish my task list. This makes complete sense considering it was a rest day. I feel a bit silly giving myself four different tasks to do today. They did need to be done, but that didn't make them doable.
I didn't do my Linear B and I didn't work on my Take Home Exam, which is due Wednesday. There are six questions. I intended to write answers for three of them. I successfully thought about the questions most of the day. But I got stuck on the first one. It was political context of the movie 300 and it turns out I didn't know much about 9/11 politics. So I did outlines for all three but I didn't write them. I'm going to write 1-3 tomorrow and outline 4-6, which means I will still have a day to edit before they are due.
I did finish my Greek prep, thanks to a less busy past self who had already done most of it.
This morning I woke up at 6am! I decided a few days ago to start going to bed earlier in hopes that I would be able to wake up at 6am and today it happened. so I unloaded the dishwasher, brushed and flossed, and then went for a walk before doing my martial arts practice and having breakfast. I even did yoga, which I have been struggling to reintegrate into my routine. I'm proud of myself for this part of the morning.
My weekly chore was admin. I went through a bunch of to do items and checked my inbox. I cancelled a few to do items instead of doing them. I have a rule for to do items: Do it right now, schedule, or cancel it. And if I don't want to reschedule then I know I need to just cancel it.
This evening I ran the dishwasher, mopped the house, checked the bathrooms, and did a five minute pickup. And then three hours later I talked myself into going back into the kitchen and washing the last remaining dishes. It turns out a basin of dishes only takes 3 minutes. How did I spend two hours washing dishes? I am so grateful it doesn't take that long anymore.
I took my meds, plugged in my laptop, plugged in my phone and then selected a podcast for tomorrow morning so I wouldn't need to fiddle with my phone before starting on chores.
I wrote my schedule for tomorrow, planned my tasks, checked my messages and decided that neither the one's I received looked so urgent that I would respond to it before tomorrow, and now I'm writing this post.
Now it is very much bedtime.
