A Plan of Work

This is Benjamin Franklin's Daily Schedule as found in his autobiography.

Plan of Work for a Small Servantless House from the I love Charts Tumblr page. |
Early to bed, Early to Rise. Both rise early. Benjamin Franklin at 5am and the housewife at 7am. Also the days of both end at 9pm. The housewife may stay awake but neither have scheduled work after that time.
Both have about 8 hours of scheduled work. If you read the comments on "I Love Charts" people find this schedule ridiculous, and I admit I'm not sure it would take that long today. But both are working the equivalent of a days labour. The difference is simply that all the housewife's tasks are listed.
What do I like best? They both highlight scheduled leisure time. Both schedules mention leisure time as something that occurs every day at a specific time. I suspect that although these schedules may look intense to a modern audience both include more actual leisure time then many modern schedules. Although we think we include more leisure time our leisure is often second grade instead of being entirely focused.
At The Reading Corner I found a Daily House Work Routine from the 70s Experiment. I want to try this for myself. Both with the Daily House Work and also with Benjamin Franklin's Routine. I have a holiday in the second half of June. I will attempt to replicate both these days and report on the results.
